On Saturday I took part in a ‘Brainathon’ webinar run by John Assaraf. I picked up loads of useful information, including the changes that happen to a brain that has suffered abuse, and ways to change it back.
One of my favourite things that I learned was how to use ‘crap boards’ alongside ‘vision boards’ to help re-train your brain. I’ve now got two cork boards hanging next to each other. You put bad things that you don’t want to think about on the ‘crap board’ and your big dreams and visions for the future on the ‘vision board’. The idea is that your brain can then stop mulling over the bad things and start focussing on the vision.
Alongside this I’ve been re-reading Paul McKenna’s ‘Change Your Destiny Today‘. In the book he talks about how people tend to live too much in the past and future, and not enough in the present. This is how he illustrates it:
The idea is that you don’t want to live in the first circle – the second one is a much better place to be.
It seems to me that the crap and vision boards are one way of helping yourself to do this. By putting the past on one board and the future on the other, your brain can finally put all the confusion to one side and concentrate on what is happening NOW!
So having got that off my chest it must be time to get on with some work! 🙂
