Light fantastic

Well, what can I say. Today was the opening of the Arts and Minds exhibition at The Light. I was incredibly nervous about having my work on show (albeit under a pen name) but at the same time couldn’t resist the urge to go and see it on display.

So I plucked up my courage and went along and am so glad I did. How fantastic to have the opportunity to display your work at a swanky place in the middle of town!

I had a happy half hour looking at all the exhibits and chatting to friendly faces including Terry from the Survivors’ Poetry Group (read his blog here), and then took myself off to a quiet corner to people-watch. Everyone who was exhibiting was given the option of wearing an artist’s badge, and I had great admiration for those who were brave enough to stand next to their work with their badge on and chat to people about it. But I was happy enough as a first-timer to sit and watch it anonymously from a safe distance, and that is one of the great things about Arts and Minds – you can be yourself and do what you need to do without comment or censure.

Thank you Arts and Minds, and well done to all those involved.
